Prayers, Praise and Picnic in the Park

By John St. United Methodist Church | Jul 08, 2012

The John Street United Methodist Church will move its 10:30 am worship service to Merryspring Nature Center on Sunday, July 15.  The Center is at 30 Conway Road, off Route 1 in Camden, just South of John Street.  The public is invited to join church members for this informal outdoor experience.  Dress is casual summer attire with “sensible” shoes, and it is suggested that each person bring a lawn chair.

The service of song and praise will include readings and music accompanied by Bob Smith on his acoustic guitar.  Opportunities will be available for anyone who chooses to share a personal story, and there will be plenty of time to walk about enjoying the beauty of the nature center.

The picnic is “do-it-yourself.”  People are asked to bring their own sandwiches, and maybe an extra to share with others, as well as personal beverages.  There are a sandwich shop and a grocery store nearby for getting picnic supplies.

Parking is limited at the center, so people are encouraged to park at the church, 98 John Street, Camden, and be “ferried” to the site where a golf cart will be available to transport those not comfortable walking on uneven ground.  Seating is available in the shady pavilion.  In case of rain, the service will be held at the church, and the outdoor worship will be postponed until July 29.

Many thanks go to Merryspring for permitting the church to gather in their special park.
