What a winter!!!!! Do hope that you are staying warm and inside. I have no desire to get out unless it is absolutely necessary. I have been working on my new computer with Windows 8 and struggling with the changes but I leave it when it gets too frustrating and then go back later on. An old horse learning new tricks.
Feb.11th. the Budget Meeting will be held in the Town Office at 7:00 P.M for Organizations and Individuals to submit their requests of money to be recommended for approval or disapproval for the Townspeople to vote on at Town Meeting later in the month. The Town Clerk, Jill Orestis, would like to have them submitted soon so she can put them in a packet for the committee.
Sympathy is extended to Clarence Drew and his family here in Prospect and Frankfort as his brother-in-law, Ellsworth Bowley of Bangor and Levant passed away Jan. 16th. And his wife, Clarence’s sister, Mary Bowley passed away three days later. They had a joint service in Hampden this past Saturday. May happy memories give you a chance to smile.
Remember years ago how people would gather down by the Railroad Bridge just below Boynton’s pasture to catch smelts by the buckets full? This is the time of year that I have a hankering for those sweet, silver fish. Don’t know of anyone that fishes for them now as the State has reduced the allowable catch to 2 quarts and most of the fisherman cannot make that trip down there now.
Dr. David Rocker will be returning to Winterport starting Feb. 10th. In the same building he was in before and Dr. Larry Smith will be joining him later. The name of the practice will be Penobscot Community Health, same affiliation that he has been practicing with since leaving Winterport. I’m sure his old and new clients will be glad to see him there.
Sorry the column is short but for lack of news, this is all I have, more will be coming later.
I want to wish you all a safe and healthy week and please remember those that need a card or a prayer. God Bless you all.
