I had the wrong date for return of nomination papers-it is Feb.12th. which will be over by the time you read this in the paper but as to the position for School Board, if there are no papers taken out then you can do a “write-In” which is badly needed due to a resignation. Check with the Town Clerk prior to the Town Meeting to get information on the proper way to do this.

Voting for Officer’s will be March 28th, 10:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Town Office and the Town Meeting will be Saturday, March 29th. 9:00 AM in the Fire Dept. garage.

Sunday, Feb. 2nd. The children and family of Elwin and Gloria Boynton hosted a 50th. Wedding Anniversary Party for them at the Mermaid/Home Port Inn. They expected a big turnout of their family but when they came into the Restaurant, they were greeted by over 100 friends and extended family. Surprise, Surprise! All of their children and Grandchildren were there: Tiger, Christine and son Joe Boynton from Florida, Chuckie, Heather and Brody Boynton of town, Kelley, Gary, Carlyie, Lacey and Noah Scanlan of Bucksport, Larry, Kelly, Rider and Sierra Boynton of Florida. Gloria’s mother, Vivian Smart of town was there which made it extra special for her and her brothers, Alvin and wife of Mass. and Kenneth Smart and June also were there.

Before the sit-down meal was served, Elwin and Gloria renewed their Vows of Fifty Years and received a big ovation. Pastor Martin announced that Elwin and Gloria had eloped to get married and it proved their love for each other was long lasting. Gloria’s brother Alvin gave the Toast. It was a beautiful afternoon for a great couple. Congratulations to you both and yes, Elwin gave her another ring.

Sunday, the Prospect Volunteer Fire Dept. burned the old house on Rt. 174 that Stanley Servisky built many years ago for his family. The new owner of the property where it sat, lives in the house up on the hill but said that people had gone in and trashed the house and took anything of value so she wanted it burned down before it fell down and would eliminate the nuisance. It was a perfect day for it, no wind or rain and quite pleasant for them.

On Tuesday, which was warm, I saw the first Chipmunk of the year on the deck. I thought that he was all set with seed as he probably hauled at least 10lbs. of seed away before the snow fell but he was back for more. I’m sure this Spring, I will be relocating them again.

The cold weather has lowered the Emergency Fuel Fund quite a bit but at least we haven’t had to refuse anyone yet but will have to limit it to 50 gallons instead of 100. The cost keeps going up. This Fund would not have been possible if not for generous and caring people who donated both personally and also voting some tax dollars to it. Was glad to hear that the Federal Government released some more funds for L Heap. Hope warm weather comes soon.

I want to wish you all a safe and healthy week and please remember those that need a card or a prayer. God Bless you all.
