The Easter Bunny made an appearance at Maddie’s Place in Prospect, April 19th. much to the joy of all the children. The Party was sponsored by Ruth and D. J. Moody, owners of Maddie’s Place and the Easter Bunny was ?????. A good time was held by all as they searched for Easter Eggs and they enjoyed the Pizza, cupcakes and drinks. This is the second year they have held the Easter Egg Hunt at the Store. Very nice event for the children.
The Coffee Time next Weds. at 1:00 in the dining room will be a busy one as we will be putting May Baskets together for Shut-Ins and Seniors here in Town. It gives a person a warm feeling when you see just how much joy a simple basket can bring to people. I’m glad I live in Prospect where we still enjoy some of the fun things from our childhood. We used to pick up bottles beside the road and turn them in at the Store of the time, for candy and hang May Baskets the whole month of May. Innocent fun.
The Prospect Historical Society will start their meetings again, May 12th. 7:00 PM in the dining room. All are welcome. This will be a busy year for the Society as plans for the 220th. Birthday of Prospect Party will be held in Oct. but there are many plans to be made. There will be conversations about the Marsh School and future fund raisers for the ramp beside the School.
What is going on by the Fire Station and the house formerly owned by Ronnie Eames? I inquired about the cutting of the trees and leveling the ground in back of the house and I was told that Chuckie and J.R. were cleaning up around the area. For what? I don’t know other than to improve the appearance of the area. It would be most beneficial if it was made into parking area for the Store and the different functions held at the Community Building.
The Prospect Fire Dept. will hold their regular meeting May 5th. at the Fire Dept. Office, 6:00 P.M. Remember in order to burn brush or grass, you need a Permit issued by Chief Tim Terry. They say the Fire Danger is high now and the winds do not help the situation. You can call him at 576-3621 or see him at the Fire Station every Sunday as he and his crew are there to check on the equipment and make sure all is running well.
People are asking now about the Annual Town Clean Up, which will be held June 7th. You can get rid of refrigerators, stoves-all appliances, tires off the rims, mattresses and furniture but no TV’s or Electronics. Those can be taken down to The Stockton Springs Town garage on Cape Jellison, the last Saturday of the month, 9-12. Make sure to pick up a permit from the Town Office stating what you will be taking down and take the permit with you to prove that you are a Prospect resident. The permit can be picked up any time prior to the last Thursday of the month at no cost.. All this helps to keep Prospect clean and also helps people to get rid of things they no longer want or use. All items have to be beside the road by 7:00 AM, June 7th.
Prayers are asked for Dorothy Gordon as she enters the Lafayette Center in Brewer, April 29th. to have Breast Surgery. Dorothy has a good attitude and a firm belief and I’m sure this will see her through the ordeal. Prayers always help.
It is hard to put away your winter jackets and coats just yet as Mother Nature likes to play tricks. Two days of Spring weather followed by cold temps and high wind do not give you a warm and fuzzy feeling. Thinking of gardening but that is in the future, but when warm weather comes we probably will complain that it is too hot.
I want to wish you all a safe and healthy week and please remember a card or a prayer for those that need them. God Bless you all.
