The Prospect News
Barbara A. Tilley
Welcome to June and for all who are celebrating Birthdays and Anniversarys this month, wish you many more.
We had a FROST this morning-the roof on the garage was all white. I checked my unplanted vegetable plants and they seem to be alright. What a cold Spring.
The Memorial Day Parade had the largest amount of people attending that I had ever seen and had a couple of Firsts. Norman Boynton, a retired Serviceman, had built a cannon that shot wadded paper announcing the beginning and ending of the Parade and Services by shooting it off down on the Basketball Court. The weather cleared and made it nice for the Legionnaires who were marching and the Middle School Band from Bucksport. We have relied on these two groups for many years to take part in the Parade and have to give them a big Thank You for your time. Fred Swift drove a shiney Yellow convertible carrying Veteran’s Widow, Vivian Smart. Thanks Fred. A surprise addition to the Parade was the Shriners and their little trucks which delighted all. This gave us a chance to smile on such a somber day and we all want to Thank them for their spreading some cheer. After the ceremonies, the Legionnaires were given a luncheon in the Community Club dining room, provided by members of the Coffee Time people. A note: Fire Chief Tim Terry directed traffic as the Deputy that was supposed to do it, didn’t show up.
The cemetery was neatly mowed and groomed Thanks to Dodie Webster, Edna and Roy Leach and son, Danny Leach. They worked many long hours and many days between rain showers to have it shine. We are blessed to have such a dedicated crew to take care of the cemetery.

Snippets of Prospect History from the book, History of Prospect written by Alice V. Ellis.-“Prospect has been part of two Nations, Great Britain and the United States: part of two states, Massachusetts and Maine: part of four countries, Yorkshire, Lincoln, Hancock and Waldo: parts of two Towns, Frankfort and Prospect.” That was a lot of changes in addresses over the years. Glad they got it all done before we came along.

Had a great group of people at Coffee Time this past Weds. It was my Birthday and Jenny had put the announcement on the outside sign and stated there would be cake. She brought in a cake decorated with flowers and birds as I am always talking about them and I received many cards-funny and serious and a plant and a big bunch of rhubarb which I had been trying to find. There were many laughs as if the custom of this group and it really made my day to share it with good friends. I cannot Thank you guys enough for this and love you all. I did write on my FaceBook page, if I had known how much fun it was to be 77, I would have done it earlier.
I want to wish you all a safe and healthy week and please remember those that need a card or a prayer. God Bless you all.
