How is your winter going? The high wind is at it again, trying to blow our house off this hill. The snow is settling, but the weathermen are talking about more next week. Just remember when it does come the traveling could be tricky.
I'm getting geared up for the benefit supper, Jan.19. This supper is for the benefit of the Prospect Concerns Fund to help people with emergency heat. The spaghetti supper will be 4-6 p.m. Donations will be received at the door. It seems this year that a lot of towns are starting a concerns fund for emergency heating fuel. As of this week, we have helped 11 families with 100 gallons of kerosene or No. 2 oil. Maybe the January thaw will give everyone a break.
The flu caught me last Sunday and to add to it, so did an attack of diverticulitis, so I just crawled out of bed yesterday for two hours and then the same today. I thought I might as well make the calls for food and workers for the supper while in bed and didn’t realize that this town has been hit hard with the flu bug. Shirley Carlson, Shelly Senta, Theresa Drew and others, I am sure. They are all recovering after a week of it, but it leaves you in a weakened state, so it will take a while to get back to 100 percent.
The Prospect Fire Department has been busy with mutual assistance for Stockton Springs, as they had the misfortune to have two large fires with building losses this past week. They also had one call here in town for a chimney fire. Do you have a smoke detector, and if so, have you changed the batteries in it? Be safe!
The Prospect budget meeting will be Jan. 22 at the Town Office, 7 p.m. This is the meeting to attend if you or your business have a request for money.
I want to wish you all a safe and healthy week, and please remember those who need a card or a prayer. God bless you all.
