Purplebean Bindery one of 80 artists at Arts in the Park, Belfast

By Arts in the Park | Jun 04, 2014

Anna Low, Purplebean Bindery, is one of the fabulous artists participating at the 19th AnnualArts in the Park on July 12 & 13 in Belfast.

Anna’s formal education is in photography and art education, with a BA from Hampshire College, a year studying at Speós, The Paris Photographic Institute, and a MA in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After many years of teaching in the Chicago Public School System and running an art department at a private school in Rhode Island, she made the scrappy leap to full time artist.  She now divides her time more or less equally among bookbinding, printing using antiquated photography techniques, web / graphic design, teaching, and the rest of life (which includes a wonderful family, a sassy rescue mutt, hiking, and vegetable gardening).  Her photographs and artist books have been exhibited throughout New England and the East Coast and published in several periodicals, including Maine Magazine.  Her home studio is bright and sunny, in Auburn, Maine.
