The Penobscot Narrows Bridge will remain closed until at least Monday morning.
Anyone needing a pail or two of sand can get some that has been put outside the gate at the Public Works garage on Prospect Street. Bring your own pail and shovel.
If you have a dog, don't forget to register it for 2014 by Dec. 31. The Town Office closes at 1 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed on New Years Day.
Monday, Jan. 6, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Ordinance Committee will meet in Union Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Tuesday, Jan. 7, starting at 7 p.m., the regular meeting of the Selectmen will take place in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Thursday, Jan. 9, starting at 7 p.m., the Budget Advisory Committee meeting will take place in the Town Hall.
Saturday, Jan. 11, weekly cribbage and chess games will be held at WORKS, 21 E. Main Street from 10:30 - 12:30 a.m. Participants should bring their own boards, although some will be provided. Refreshments will be provided for a small donation. For more information contact Karen Jelenfy, 899-5988.
Monday, Jan. 13, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Board will hold their regular monthly meeting in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
I would like to compliment the fire, police, ambulance and public works people who put in long hours during the ice storm. Anyone with a scanner was hearing them being dispatched from one event to another about every 15 minutes during the height of the storm.
