Monday, May 26, the Town Office will be closed for Memorial Day. The parade will start at the Dan Rich Public Safety building at 9 a.m. and proceed to Mosman Park.
Wednesday, May 28, starting at noon, two Shellback dinghies built by Searsport High School students in the new Hamilton Learning Center at Penobscot Marine Museum will be launched at the Hamilton Town Wharf. The eight students began building the boats on January 28, working with master boat builder Greg Rossel and a crew of volunteers from the community. Wayne Hamilton, owner of Hamilton Marine, gave the students their last class on navigation, and now they are ready to launch the boats they had been building for the past four months.
Thursday, May 29, starting at 7 p.m., there will be a public hearing on the RSU 20 budget at Troy Howard School in Belfast. The result of that meeting will determine the budget for 2014/15.
Thursday, May 29, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Comprehensive Planning Committee will meet in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Saturday, May 31, from 10 to 1 p.m., the Carver Memorial Library will hold their Saturday Book Sale at the library. They have many great books in good to brand new condition with new books added each month.
Monday, June 2, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Board will meet in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Tuesday, June 3, starting at 7 p.m, the regular meeting of the Selectmen will take place in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Wednesday, June 4, starting at 7 p.m., the RSU 20 Withdrawal Committee will take place in the Stockton Town Hall with the Stockton Withdrawal Committee.
Friday, June 6, starting at 6 p.m., there will be an Auction for Lions/Friends of Scouting (Searsport Troop 215 & Frankfort Troop 34). They are looking for New or Gently used items and will pick them up until June 4th. 20th Maine Company B Civil War Era Encampment, will be held June 6,7 & 8, 2014 at Mosman Park, Searsport, Maine.
Come see soldiers reenacting Civil War military tactics and portraying life during the war period 1861 - 1865. For more information, contact Gary Moore 944-5853.
The Searsport District High School, National Honor Society and Student Council are working in partnership with the WORLDWIDE BOOK DRIVE to collect books to help fight illiteracy in the world. Their mission is to improve global literacy and the environment through more efficient recycling of books. All books are used, no matter what subject area or condition. Books can be dropped odd at SDHS and the RSU 20 Central Office. If you have books that you would like picked up, please contact email@example.com.
It looks like the wharf repairs will start deeper into summer then we originally thought. They have some additional engineering work to do.
The paving is coming. It looks like Swan Lake Ave. is almost done. There are about 4 other jobs to be done in this district and we are one of them. Don't know if we are next or last.
