Monday, July 14, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Board will hold their regular monthly meeting in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Tuesday, July 15, starting at 7 p.m., the regular meeting of the Selectmen will take place in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Tuesday, July 15, from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. the Searsport Farmers market will take place in front of the Penobscot Marine Museum.
Wednesday, July 16, starting at 5 p.m., the First Congregational Church of Searsport will hold the first of two July Fish Chowder Suppers. It will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is $8.00 adults and $4.00 children under 12. The supper includes delicious fish chowder, biscuits, homemade pies and ice cream.
Saturday, July 19, from 9 to 3 p.m., the Barney Hose/Searsport Fire Department will be holding their annual "Classic Car Show and Craft Fair in Mosman Park. There is no admission charge.
Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., Barbara Kent Lawrence will read from her recent novel Islands of Time at WORKS, 21 E. Main Street, Searsport. Lawrence draws on her love of Maine and her experience as a researcher and writer for her first novel Islands of Time. She currently divides her time between Mount Desert Island, Maine and South Hamilton, Mass. Homemade doughnuts and coffee will be served.
Saturday, July 19, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the North Searsport United Methodist Church would like to invite the public to their baked bean public supper. Supper will consist of baked beans, brown bread, cole slaw, chop suey, rolls and homemade pies.
Price is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12.
Wednesday, July 23, the RSU20 Withdrawal Committee will meet with the Stockton Withdrawal Committee in the Searsport Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Thursday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Senior Safety Day will be held at the Dan Rich Public Safety Building. Coffee and doughnuts served in the morning along with lunch at noon! Speakers on topics of interest to all attending. Raffles to be drawn along with Beano and prizes. Fill up your car with your friends and enjoy a totally free day of fun and to gather information! I received an e-mail from Linda Bowe, Principal of the Searsport Elementary School letting us know that the Searsport Elementary School, 30 Mortland Road, is part of a federal program that supports free breakfast and lunches for all children and youth up to age 19. The hours and days are as follows:
Monday-Thursday from 8:00 to 8:45 for breakfast and 11:30 - 12:15 for lunch.
