By Kiwanis Club of Rockland | Mar 05, 2013

The Director of Development for the Five Town Communities That Care organization, Alex Owre, was the featured guest speaker at the Kiwanis Club meeting at the Samoset Resort in Rockport on February 11.  The mission of Five Town Communities That Care is to promote healthy youth development and to prevent problem adolescent behaviors such as substance abuse, suicide, violence, delinquency, school drop-out, and teen pregnancy, and to foster increased collaboration and cooperation in the community in order to best serve the needs of its youth.  Currently serving the towns of Appleton, Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport, the organization is exploring working with other non-profits to bring their services to other towns.  In the photo, Kiwanis president Amy Pease of Union is shown thanking Owre with a Kiwanis coffee mug.  Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time,  FMI: www.fivetownctc.org.
