Rockland Kiwanis Guest Speaker William Shuttleworth, Former Superintendent of the Five-Town Community School District, Spoke Candidly About Our Public Education System
Noted educator, writer, member of the Maine Charter School Commission, and former superintendent of the Five-Town Community School District, William Shuttleworth, was the featured speaker at the February 25th meeting of the Kiwanis Club at the Samoset Resort. Shuttleworth, who attended the meeting with his wife Patty, spoke candidly about what he described as the costly, inefficient and outdated condition of our public education systems. His presentation was lively and generated a good deal of questions from the audience. After the meeting, Kiwanis president Amy Pease of Union presented Shuttleworth with a Kiwanis coffee mug as a token of appreciation. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
