Rockland Kiwanis Meeting Minutes for August 18th, 2014
President Katie Tarbox called the meeting to order, and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Bill Batty, Jr. offered our invocation. Guests included speaker Doug Sensenig from Coastal Mountains Land Trust, Stevie Colburn from New Hope for Women, Lucas Alexander Baker, and Rachel Kinney.
Gordon Page motioned we accept the new club bylaws as presented, and Tom Mellor seconded. The vote carried unanimously.There is a board meeting this Wednesday at 7:30am at The Samoset.Next week is our monthly evening meeting. There will be no meeting on Labor Day, 09/01.The ELIMINATE! "jar" was passed.Meals on Wheels: Keith Wass and a guest will deliver tomorrow. There are two spots open in September. There is an Aktion Club cookout this Wednesday at 4pm at The Methodist Conference Home. Grand Raffle (G/R): Only 135 tickets have been sold! Yikes! The drawing is coming right up.

50/50: Greg Hamlin didn't cut the Joker. Mark Curtis's ticket was one off, and he was a very sore loser about it. Keith Wass won the trivia challenge, and Shannon Kinney won the attendance prize.
Greg Hamlin was happy for a G/R tix, happy to win the 50/50, and happy to be happy. Jane Dagley was happy for a G/R tix, happy for our speaker, and happy her wedding was coming up fast. Jim Heavey was happy to be at work, and sad his vacation was over. Wayne Keiderling was happy for his birthday. Jackie Harjula was happy for OHTM parking, and happy for 6 G/R tix. Tom Mellor was happy for a trip to RI, happy for our speaker, and happy for our guests. Keith Wass was happy for OHTM parking, happy for a G/R tix, and sad he didn't win anything on his lottery ticket. Sumner Kinney was happy for OHTM parking, and sad he ruffled Keith Wass's feathers. Lucas Baker was happy for a train ride, and sad his fish died. Dan Saucier was happy for a trip to the island, and happy for OHTM parking. Gordon Page was happy for OHTM parking, happy for Lucas Baker, and happy for Lucas and Rachel Kinney having a nice lunch date. Rachel Kinney was happy for school. Keith Wass was happy for his dad's birthday. Katie Tarbox was happy for a trip to camp, sad the docks were out, and happy for our guests.
Speaker: Doug Sensenig is from Coastal Mountains Land Trust. They try to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of western Penobscot Bay.
