Shutouts were the name of the game on the pitch in Waldo County on Thursday, Oct. 17, which was good news for one of the two participating high school girls soccer squads as the regular season winds to a close.
Searsport picked up a 2-0 win over Bangor Christian, while Belfast was blanked 7-0 in Newport by Nokomis (information for that game was unavailable).

At Searsport Oct. 17, the Vikings blanked the Patriots in the team's regular-season finale.
Anna Bucklin scored with 21:09 left in the first half, while Briana Grant creased the net with 6:33 remaining in the game, off a Bucklin assist.
Alicen Brooks made six saves on nine shots in goal for Searsport, while Maggie McDonald and another Patriot keeper, whose name was unavailable, combined for 10 saves on 21 shots in net.
The Vikings held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Western Class D, Searsport (7-3-4, 41.1656 points) is fourth, while Richmond (13-1, 87.1429 points) is first in the nine-team region. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs.
The Vikings have earned a spot in the upcoming regional playoffs.
