|7:00 PM - 8:30 PM|
Searsmont’s Bicentennial Week festivities continue Friday August 8 with a free evening of music featuring local music groups Depot Town and Rose & the Wayfaring Strangers featuring Rosey Gerry, live on stage at the Ames School in Searsmont. The performance begins with the Depot Town acoustic trio at 7 p.m., and ends with Gerry’s six musicians.
Depot Town features Cami Jewett on keyboards and fiddle, Doug Maple on guitar, and Jon Feldman on sax and guitar. They formed four years ago as members of the Oxford Horse Thieves, then formed the midcoast dance band Sea Train, and now play smooth, vocally driven tunes that appeal to audiences of all ages.
Rose & the Wayfaring Strangers consists of Lincolnville’s Kim Moran on mandolin and flute, Doug Teel from Rockville on guitar, Ron Haven of Appleton on bass, Linda Stevenson from Warren on fiddle, Lincolnville’s Scott Harrison playing guitar, and Rosey Gerry (also from Lincolnville) playing banjo, guitar, and autoharp. Moran, Teel, Stevenson, Harrison, and Gerry share the vocal duties. The group is well known throughout the midcoast, and encourage audiences to sing along and tap their toes “whether you have rhythm or not,” according to Rosey Gerry.
The Friday August 8 7 p.m. concert at the Ames School Auditorium on New England Road in Searsmont is free, but donations are welcome. Light refreshments will be available, and families are welcome. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. For more information, call Rosey Gerry at 207 975-5432.
