There isn't very much news here in Searsmont this week. Summer is already winding down and school will be starting very soon. I never got to see any of the meteor showers, either because of the clouds or I got too tired waiting. Feeling a bit stronger every week but its still too slow for me, this recovery thing. I am hoping that by mid September we can get away a few days for our 12th anniversary.
Searsmont Town News
The town has been doing maintenance to the salt sand building. Metal roofing is being placed over the old shingles. Other maintenance will be done soon.
The Selectmen are seeking bids for winter maintenance for the East side of Searsmont. If you are interested in this section of town or know someone who is interested, contact Bruce or Alice at the Town Office for more information. Bids will be reviewed at the August 27 Selectmen’s Meeting.
If you travel on Moody Mt Rd, be aware that work will be started soon so allow extra time for travel or take an alternate route. The work being done will be from the top of the hill by the old Clark Farm and to the bottom of the hill. Culverts will be replaced, rocks will be taken out of the road and the road will be paved.
The last Demo Debris Day for the season will be on Saturday, August 25th. A list of acceptable items will be available at the town office and the transfer station. Make sure you get there early. The truck has to leave no later than 1:30 in order to get it to the destination before the gates are locked.
The Planet Aid box is now at the Transfer Station. You can drop your used clothing and shoes in the box.
The next public supper at the United Methodist Church in Searsmont will be Saturday, September 14th, at 5:00 P.M.
