So this is the last week of 2013 already. The winter has certainly made it so we will have the white Christmas so many hope for. I am hoping we don't get the ice and sleet this weekend so we will have our Christmas program at church. God bless each and every one of you and yours as we approach the Christmas season and the New year in 2014.
Searsmont Town News
The selectmen will not be meeting on Dec 31. They will meet again on Jan 7, 2014.
Congratulations to John Benjamin on his new job. However, the job is out-of-state, requiring that he and Stacy move. John and Stacy have been active members of this community and will be missed by many.
The 2014 Dog licenses are due by Dec 31. Register your dog now and avoid a $25 late fee.
Please note the following holiday schedule for the town office hours: Christmas – Tues, Dec 24 open from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon. Wed. Dec 25 closed all day. Dec 26, open for our regular schedule of 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. New Years’ holiday: open from 8:00 until 12:00 noon on Dec 31. Closed and all day Jan 1. The office will be open again on Jan 2 for our normal hours of 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
2014 Hunting and Fishing licenses are now available at the town office. Licenses will be available on-line Dec 16th.
Don’t forget your favorite hunter and fishing enthusiast! Licenses make great stocking stuffers.
The library will be closed Dec 24th through the 26th. It will be open on Friday, the 27th ,it will close again on Jan 1st, 2014, but will be open on Jan 2nd during their normal hours.
Bicentennial Calendars for 2014
The Searsmont Historical Society Bicentennial Calendars are available in limited quantities for holiday gift giving starting December 16th. The calendars are available at this time at the Searsmont Library and the Fraternity Village store. Additional unlimited quantities will be made available after the holiday. If you wish to reserve a calendar for gift giving, please contact Karen Withee at email@example.com or leave a message at 322-5526. Cost of the calendar is $10.
