So....we did not escape Old Man Winter this past week but again, it could have been worse! Now we are counting down the days until spring , in fact as you are reading this, it is now spring! I am looking forward to cleaning up inside and out once the snow and ice totally melts away. The birds have been beautiful through these winter bursts, they are so cunning and reminds me spring is just around the corner!
There are only two weeks left until the kickoff event of the Searsmont Bicentennial Year. On Saturday April 5, the First Founders Day Celebration takes place at the Community Building, starting at noon – right after Town Meeting. The celebration is free to all, with snacks and beverages. There will be a special “free gift” for everyone who attends, according to Bicentennial Committee chairperson Carol Robbins. We hear that there will be a huge “Happy 200th Birthday” cake for all to share, a proclamation, and a program – including a slide show of historical Searsmont photos – for all to enjoy. Sales of bicentennial mugs and calendars (at $10 and sale price of $7 each), and hats and t-shirts (at $12 each) are going well at the Fraternity Village Store, library, and Town Office. They will be on sale at the Founders Day Celebration, too. Hope to see you there!
