First of all, happy new year to all the dedicated staff we have at the Searsmont Town Office and the landfill. I don't think they get told enough how much we appreciate them, I know I do! After reading and hearing the news over the past few weeks, I feel very blessed to be a resident of this town. I do also want to apologize that the article did not get put in last week. I had a emergency trip to New York on Dec. 26, my dad passed away on Friday, the 28th. It was very sudden and he will sure be missed. He, too, was a veteran, and my Air Force career was in honor of him, and now my family has carried on in the military over the years. My daughter now is serving in the Air National Guard overseas until September.
It is so good to be back here and hopefully I can hunker down safely until spring. The snow is beautiful and we are still shoveling out.
Dog licenses are due by Jan 31. There will be a rabies clinic on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1-3 p.m. at the Appleton Fire Department located at 2899 Sennebec Rd. in Appleton.
