I don't even want to go into the past week. It is all too surreal, as if in another world, another time. Let's suffice it to say I am overwhelmed and will need some type of respite after the next week or so. I am looking forward to the Bi-Centennial days celebration here in Searsmont tomorrow, fireworks the whole shabang!

The last Demo Debris Day of 2014 is August 23rd.

A BIG Thank You to all the attendees, organizations, the volunteers, and the coordinators who made Searsmont Bicentennial educational, delicious and so much fun.

Bicentennial keepsakes are still available on sale at the Town Office, Fraternity and Library.  A Bicentennial Slide Show CD containing Historic Pictures is also available at the Town Office for $10.00.

Maine Senior Games

John Strassenreiter, a long-time summer resident on Quantabacook and former owner of Camp Wah Nah Gee Sha, took home five medals from the Maine Senior Games Track & Field Meet in Scarborough last month.

Competing in the 70-74 age group, John won the gold medal in the 1500-meter power walk and the javelin. He also won medals in the 200 meters, 400 meters and shot put.

John is also the new president of the Quantabacook Lake Association, which plans a picnic and lake meeting on Saturday, Aug. 16.
