Searsport competes in Penobscot Valley Conference championships

Old Town — A handful of Searsport runners — and a former Viking — participated in the Penobscot Valley Conference cross-country championships on Saturday, Oct. 15, an event hosted by Old Town High School.

Runners worked across a 3.1-mile course.

The individual Searsport girls varsity results, with the overall winner listed (103 runners overall), were: 1, Tia Tardy, Mount Desert Island, 18:58.80; and 91, Madison Philbrick, Sears, 29:41.30. Mary Brenna Catus of George Stevens Academy, a former Searsport athlete, finished 33rd in 22:22.90.

The individual Searsport boys varsity results, with the overall winner listed (110 runners overall), were: 1, John Hassett, George Stevens Academy, 16:26.20; 58, Holden Clapp, Sears, 20:14.90; and 89, Devin Fairbrother, Sears, 22:12.60.

In the boys jayvee race, Searsport's William Bradley finished 57th in 29:25.
