Castine — The Searsport golf team battled another opponent Aug. 31, this time host George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill on the par-35 Castine Golf Cub. And when the final shots had been taken, the Eagles had earned a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total victory of 189 to 201 over the visiting Vikings.
However, Searsport (0-2) improved its team score by 18 strokes from its first match of the season, which shows the team is committed to practice and learning the fundamentals of the game, said Viking assistant coach Gerry French.
Dillan Moody paced Searsport with 45 followed by Alex Carroll with 47. The medalist was GSA's C.J. Chen with 41.
Searsport's individual scores were: Moody 45, Carroll 47, Rica Barloso 52, Alex Woodward 57, Tyler Kendall 58 and John Guerette 58.
GSA's individual scores were: Chen 41, Alex Heilner 42, Brett Ingraham 53, Joe Maier 53, Hattie Wanning 58, Justin Gray 71 and Gordon Lameyer 77.
