Searsport man facing multiple charges after domestic dispute
Belfast — A Searsport man is facing multiple charges, including assault, after an altercation with his former girlfriend and her boyfriend in Belfast Sunday, Aug. 11.
Belfast Police charged Daniel Carchide, 32, of Searsport, with assault, domestic violence assault and aggravated criminal trespass after receiving a call from his former girlfriend. The girlfriend told officers Carchide arrived at the residence on East Waldo Road at 7:45 p.m. where she was staying with her current boyfriend, Chief Mike McFadden said.
The former girlfriend told police Carchide assaulted her before leaving the residence to chase after her boyfriend who had left the home. Carchide then proceeded to assault the boyfriend, McFadden said.
By the time officers arrived at the home, Carchide had left the property on foot. Officers called in a K-9 unit to track Carchide, but the dog encountered a porcupine and needed to be taken to a veterinarian to have some quills removed.
A second dog was called to the scene, but was unable to track Carchide, McFadden said. However, he was later arrested on a temporary warrant.
McFadden said neither the former girlfriend or the boyfriend required hospitalization after being assaulted. Carchide was taken to the Waldo County Jail and has since posted bail, McFadden said. He is scheduled to appear in Belfast Superior Court Thursday, Aug. 29.
