Searsport man sentenced to six years for sex abuse offenses
Belfast — A Searsport man who pleaded guilty to eight charges of sexually abusing three children in separate incidents in 2010 and 2011 was sentenced to six years in jail, Wednesday, Feb. 6.
Brian I. Doucette, 32, was sentenced to 14 years with all but six years suspended, according to court documents. Doucette will also be on probation for three years, which requires him not to have contact with the three victims, not to have contact with children under 16 years old and to attend sex offender counseling.
According to court documents, the sexual abuse incidents occurred in Searsport, Stockton Springs and Winterport between 2010 and 2011 and involved a boy and two girls who were all under the age of 12.
In one incident, Doucette pulled his pants down and began rubbing his genitals before telling the male victim to try touching himself.
In a separate incident, the male victim was playing a video game on an Xbox system while Doucette was watching adult videos on the computer in the same room and touching his genitals, according to court documents.
One of the female victims, according to court documents, told police Doucette touched her “private area” over her clothing on two different occasions. The other female victim told police Doucette exposed his genitals to her and touched her on the nipple under her shirt.
Doucette denied the allegations of sexual abuse and told officers he slept on a bed or futon with the children and may have touched the girls while he was asleep or “half-asleep.”
However, court documents indicated that Doucette admitted to a relative to sexually abusing the children.
Doucette was arrested in March 2012 and charged with four counts of visual sexual aggression against a child, two counts of unlawful sexual contact, one count of sexual misconduct with a child and one count of unlawful sexual touching, according to court documents.
