Searsport officer takes job with RSU 25Chief aims to promote from existing roster, pending approval
Searsport — A Searsport officer has launched into a new chapter of his career this week after starting work as the school resource officer in the Bucksport-based Regional School Unit 25.
Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye said Officer Eric Marcel, who was with the department for about three years and received all of his law enforcement training during that time, stated his new job Monday morning, March 3.
"We want to wish him well," said LaHaye Tuesday morning, March 4, adding that Marcel will remain on board as a reserve officer into the near future.
LaHaye said he will recommend promoting from within to fill Marcel's former position at the select board meeting Tuesday night, March 4, as the staff change requires board approval.
