Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye issued thanks to the driving public for adhering to the rules of the town's winter parking ban.

LaHaye also reminded drivers to be on the lookout for deer crossing the roads at all hours of the day. The department has responded to three car-deer accidents within a two-day span this week, and LaHaye said the fluctuating temperatures and the existing salt on the shorelines alongside Route 1 are drawing the animals to the road.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
