Searsport — Law enforcement officials with the Searsport Police Department reported the following recent activity:

Dec. 15

Neala M. Maloney, 39, of Cushing, failure to register motor vehicle for more than 30 days, but less than 150 days.

Dec. 31

Charles Mooney, 51, of Searsport was driving toward Belfast on West Main Street in a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder when a deer entered the roadway and ran into the left front fender of Mooney's vehicle. The animal ran into the vehicle once more before heading back into the nearby woods. Mooney was not hurt in the accident, but his vehicle sustained about $3,000 worth of damage.

Jan. 2

Frederick Walton, 52, of Searsport was arrested on a warrant out of Knox County for unpaid fines and fees.

Jan. 5

Bridget Sawyer, 19, of Searsport, seat belt violation, operating a defective motor vehicle and operating after suspension.

Allan Gustafson, 42, of Searsport, possession of Hydrocodone.

Gerald Gustafson, 49, of Searsport, violating conditions of release.

This week the Searsport Police Department is urging pet owners to keep their animals inside during frigid weather, such as what the midcoast region has experienced over the past week.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
