Monday, Jan. 21, the Town Offices will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Wednesday, Jan. 22, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Searsport Shellfish Management Committee will meet in the Dan Rich Public Safety Building.
Thursday, Jan. 24, from 8 to 9 a.m., the monthly JAVA meeting will be held at the Penobscot Marine Museum.
Thursday, Jan. 24, starting at 7 p.m. there will be a joint meeting of the Selectmen and the Budget Advisory Committee in Union Hall, where they will go over the money requests from outside agencies. This meeting will be televised.
Thursday, Jan. 24, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Historic Preservation Committee will meet downstairs in the Town Hall.
Tuesday, Jan. 29, starting at 7 p.m., the regular meeting of the Selectmen will take place in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised.
Thursday, Jan. 31, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Selectmen will hold a workshop in the Town Hall.
Thursday, Feb. 7, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Selectmen will hold a workshop in the Town Hall.
A reminder that the 2013 dog licenses must be purchased before the end of the month to avoid the penalty.
The Carver Memorial Library Search Committee has selected Erica Irish for the position of library director. Erica was approved by the Selectmen at their last regular meeting.
The World War II Memorial Honor Roll is moving along. Anyone wishing to donate to the project can do so at the Town Hall. Charlene Knox Ferris urges people to stop in and check for proper spelling of the names. Also, if you know of anyone on that list who is still alive, call Charlene at 548-2954 so she may invite them to the dedication on July 3 in Union Hall.
Right after Christmas, the Ellis family of Stockton Springs lost all of their belongings in a house fire, and they and the children are having a rough go of it. A benefit supper will be held at the Improved Order of Redmen Hall at 153 Main St. in Belfast. The supper will be Feb. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. A donation of $6 for adults and $3 for kids under 12 will be appreciated.
During the month of December, the Searsport Ambulance responded to 44 calls for service and the police responded to 182 calls for service. The Fire Department responded to 14 calls and issued 17 burn permits. During 2012, they responded to 109 calls for service.
