"Share the Love" Community Auction POSTPONED TIL MARCH 2nd at 5 pm

By St. Peter's Episcopal Church | Feb 24, 2013

Due to weather conditions today, the Auction Team for the second annual Share The Love Auction, has POSTPONED the auction until Saturday March 2nd at 5 PM with a snow date of Sunday March 3rd at 5Pm

The format will be the same with a silent auction from 5 to 6 pm followed by a live auction conducted by auctioneer, Bruce Gammage and assisted by his wife Becky and chruch volunteers.

This huge community auction benefits area families in need.

Well over $15,000 worth of goods and services have been donated from individuals and businesses throughout Knox County, Maine and beyond.

Winter can be the most financially difficult season for individuals and families living in Midcoast Maine. St. Peter’s church knows of the varied needs of many of our neighbors who have found themselves in difficult situations due to current economic realities. The church works in conjunction with other area churches, and local agencies such as Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO Food Pantry), Penquis, and Salvation Army to offer a willing and sympathetic ear and to try and give people hope. These agencies, along with DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) and the local town and city offices, work together to utilize whatever aid is available in the community.

The problem facing all our clergy and area organizations is the rising need, which is far greater than the funds targeted for this type of community outreach. To better address the growing needs, St. Peter's is hosting the 2nd Annual "Share the Love" Community Auction. All of the auction proceeds will provide emergency aid to midcoast families in crisis, some directly through the outreach efforts of St. Peter's, but most through the local agencies that are on the front lines of this struggle, including (but not limited to) AIO, the Salvation Army, and the Rockland District Nurses Association (RDNA).

Businesses as well as individuals in the community have been very generous in donating items which are varied in scope. There is something for everyone here, including lobster bait, airline tickets, Nascar tickets, heating oil, white water rafting tickets, artwork by local artists, clothing & accessories, health club memberships, local golf course fees, gift certificates to local restaurants, car services, museum memberships and much, much more.

A list of auction items can be found at the St. Peter’s website: www.stpetersrockland.org.

Refreshments will be available when the doors open for viewing auction items at 5 pm. The Silent Auction will end at exactly 6 PM, and then Bruce Gamage will commence the Live Auction. St. Peter’s is located at 11 White Street, next to the Rockland Public Library.

Your support will go toward providing Midcoast families in crisis with essentials!
