Shooter launches book at city library
Belfast — Monroe teen Hila Shooter will read from and sign copies of her book “Ticket to Ride: How Teens Can Fundraise to Realize Our Dreams” Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. The book will have just been published.
In 2011, Shooter, a home-schooled high school senior who will graduate in June, raised $12,500 so she could achieve her dream to go on a wilderness learning program in Ecuador. She spent about 10 months raising the funds. In her book, she aims to help other young people do the same, with a little less hassle.
In addition to learning what she had to offer that people would pay for, the experience taught Shooter the importance of perseverance. And the fundraising experience helped her set up a successful Kickstarter campaign to get her book published.
Shooter will be happy to field questions and to sign copies of her book. For more information, call the library at 338-3884, ext. 24. This program is free and open to the public.
