Sprouts open house May 25, 26

May 19, 2017

Broadreach Family & Community Services will host an open house for its Sprouts preschool nature-based education program offered in Belfast and Unity.

The open house will provide parents and community members with a deeper understanding of the program. Visitors will have an opportunity to see the preschool, meet teachers, and tour Sprouts’ outdoor classrooms. Sprouts is open to children of all abilities including those with special needs.

Broadreach and Sprouts preschool programs are accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Since 1983, Broadreach programs have supported individuals and communities in achieving improved health, well-being, and self-sufficiency. Broadreach is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency with offices in Waldo and Knox counties.

Deb Hensley, director of the Early Childhood Program at Broadreach, says, “Sprouts children are outdoors most of the day. The children thrive in our active, natural learning classrooms. This is a unique preschool model in which children grow, learn and develop in healthy outdoor settings.”

Sprouts teaching staff, along with Hensley, will be available to answer questions, provide tours and meet prospective children and their families.

Both locations will host open houses Thursday, May 25, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sprouts classrooms are located at: 23 Mill Lane, Belfast and 84 School St., Unity. For more information, contact Broadreach at 338-2200 or email vnickerson@brmaine.org.
