'Stangs blank Black Bears to earn season's second win
Thorndike — The lone team in Waldo County to brave the elements after several other varsity athletic events were postponed due to severe weather Thursday, Sept. 12, the Mount View field hockey squad welcomed Maranacook of Readfield for an early-season Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B matchup.
The host Mustangs were anything but gracious, though the Black Bears did get to head home early as Mount View stormed to a 5-0 win.
The game was called with 3:21 left in the game due to thunder and lightning.
The victory was, at the time, the second straight for the 'Stangs, who had now scored 13 unanswered goals in two games.
Kersey Boulay scored two goals for Mount View, while Reanna Boulay, Allyson Clary and Braley Leadbetter also found the back of the cage for the winners. The hosts led 3-0 at halftime.
Dinah Bilodeau was in the cage for the Mustangs, while Brianna Gotez was in goal for Maranacook, turning away 7-of-12 shots.
