Searsport — A Stockton Springs man's vehicle was largely undamaged despite striking a deer that ran into the roadway in Searsport.

Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Darrin Moody responded to a report of a vehicle striking a deer on East Main Street in Searsport at 12:19 p.m. Aug. 13. According to the crash report, Wesley Norling, 58, was driving west in a Ford Focus when a deer ran into the road from the eastbound lane in front of his car.

Norling was unable to avoid hitting the animal, Moody stated in his report, but only the front grille on the vehicle was damaged and the Focus was still drivable.

Norling was not injured in the crash.
