Strings of every ilk at Rock City

Nukulele

Rockland — On Friday, March 1, Rock City Cafe's Velvet Lounge series will welcome back the Ale House String Band, which will play from 5 to 7 p.m.  The Ale House String Band is comprised of Brian Dunn on mandolin, April Reed-Cox on cello and Oren Robinson on guitar.

Robinson regularly played at a Waldoboro tavern, where the owner introduced him to Dunn. Reed-Cox moved to the area and one evening was invited to play by Dunn; the resulting chemistry was evident to everyone who was present that evening and thus the Ale House String Band was formed.

On Saturday, March 2, Rock City Cafe's Velvet Lounge welcomes back Nukulele. In Liberty during the summer of 2009, original members Adam Carson, Devin Ryan, Eric Sprowl, Kedrick Carson and Travis Veilleux started out as a nameless cover band, playing at many parties in the Waldo County region and gaining a group of fans ranging from 17 to 70. They produced a Nukulele cover demo called “Re-Nuked,” which just hint at what is soon to come from these musicians. The music will play from 5 to 7 p.m.

As usual there is no cover charge; however, tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, located downtown at 316 Main St., call 594-4123.
