Swanville — Students at the Kermit Nickerson School have collected donated goods to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy throughout the last week, and this week, those items will be delivered to New York and New Jersey.

A family connected to the second and fourth grade classes at NES had already planned a trip to those states to provide supplies for families there, and will also transport the goods the students collected on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 20.

After some brainstorming, the students decided to collect items such as clothing, toys, games, books, pet supplies, toiletries, bedding, bottled water and towels, and set up two large donation boxes in the lobby of the school to serve as drop-off points.
