The Ali Manion Group

Northport — The Ali Manion Group will take the intimate stage of Northport Music Theater, Route 1, for two nights — Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. The quartet features Ali Manion on vocals, Adria Murrelle Smith on piano, Alison Keslow on bass guitar and Joe Galeota on drums.

The evenings will feature songs made famous by great female vocalists past and present, each of whom has inspired Manion. The concerts will feature music that has been sung by (but is not limited to) Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Blossom Dearie, Big Mama Thornton, Ruth Brown, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Janis Joplin, Carole King, Brenda Lee, Joni Mitchell, Etta James, Nora Jones, Diana Krall, Bonnie Raitt and Eva Cassidy.

The musical quartet is made up of professional musicians from the greater Boston area. Manion’s voice has been described as “poignant, with a low register that melts like chocolate.” Singing jazz and blues from the 1930s to today, Ali Manion Group will perform sultry blues, smooth jazz standards and rockin’ R&B hits.

The theater, located between Belfast and Lincolnville Beach, is air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. Tickets are $15, $8 for children; cash or check only at the door. Reservations are strongly encouraged by calling 338p8383. For more information, visit northportmusictheater.com.
