Summer Food Program feeds kids for free

Jun 29, 2014

With summer right around the corner, it is time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. Regional School Unit 3 provides free meals to children during the summer.

This summer, RSU 3 will be serving meals at Mount View Elementary School Monday through Friday at 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child age 18 and under may come to eat for free. Adults are welcome to join the kids for the low price of $2 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch. For more information, contact Allison Daugherty, RSU 3 school nutrition director, at 207-568-4607 or adaugherty@rsu3.org.

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like RSU 3 to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer. For more information about the national Summer Food Service Program, visit www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/summer.
