Swan Lake Grocery, Rockland Café remain unbeaten through three weeks

The Midcoast Babe Ruth baseball league is in full swing with teams in action on the diamond Sunday, June 1.

Scores from June 1 games included: Rockland Café 8, Union Farm Equipment 7 (11 inns.); Wiscasset Merchants 1, Waldoboro 0; Waldo County 11, Rockport 1; and Swan Lake Grocery 12, Camden 1.

The standings through three weeks include: Rockland Café 3-0, Swan Lake Grocery 3-0, Damariscotta Lions 2-0, Waldo County 2-1, Wiscasset Merchants 1-1, Union Farm Equipment 0-1, Rockport 0-2, Camden 0-3 and Waldoboro 0-3.

The following is a recap of reported results from June 1:

Waldo County 11, Rockport 1 (5 inns.)

At Searsport June 1, the hosts scored at least once in each inning and prevailed via the mercy rule. Waldo County scored one in the first, two in the third and fifth innings and three in the second and fourth innings. Rockport's lone run came in the fourth.

Colby Furrow and Joey Danna pitched for Waldo County, allowing nine hits and one walk, with six strikeouts. Nick Denny, Luke Boetsch and Brandon Debrosky pitched for Rockport and allowed eight hits, with five strikeouts.

Leading the hosts at the plate were Holden Dudley (2 singles, 3 runs, 2 RBIs), Danna (2 singles, run), Max Thomas (2 singles, run, 2 RBIs), Furrow (single, run, RBI), Mitchell Philbrook (single, 2 runs), Brandon Smith (run, RBI), Liam Cail (run), Cole Frey (run) and Kyle Moore (RBI).

For Rockport, Debrosky (double, run), Cam Gushee (2 singles), Jack Poutasse (2 singles), Austin Charkowick (single), Isaac Hall (single) and Lucas Boetsch (single) led the offense.

Rockland Cafe 8, Union Farm Equipment 7 (11 inns.)

At Thomaston June 1, both squads rapped 11 hits and committed three errors, but the hosts pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to stay unbeaten. Rockland Café scored one in the first, eighth and 11th innings, three in the second and two in the third, while Union Farm Equipment scored two in the first, second and sixth innings and one in the eighth.

Coby Dorr, Anthony Moore and Logan Sheridan split pitching duties for the hosts, allowing 11 hits, five walks and two hit batters, with 19 strikeouts. Riley McCollett, Adam Wilcox and Nathan Emerson all pitched for Union Farm Equipment, allowing 11 hits, three walks and one hit batter, with 12 strikeouts.

Leading Rockland Café at the plate were Moore (single), Jack Freeman (single), Michael Dougherty (double), Hunter Davis (single), Titus Kaewthong (single), Mitchell Delfrate (triple, single) and Sheridan (single).

For UFE, McCollett was the day's offensive star as he tripled, doubled, rapped three singles and was 7-of-7 on stolen-base attempts.

Also chipping in for the visitors were Ryan Simmons (2 singles) and Patrick Madden (double).

Swan Lake Grocery 12, Camden 1 (5 inns.)

At Rockport June 1, the visitors plated six runs in the first inning and never trailed as they had five pitchers combine for a no-hitter in the victory. Swan Lake Grocery also scored three in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth, while Camden's lone run came in the first.

Zach Dyer, Skylar Perkins, Tyler Bartlett, Garrett Hamlin and Grey Dinsmore pitched for Swan Lake Grocery, while Bengtsson, Hilt and Mooers pitched for the hosts.

First names for Camden players were unavailable.

Leading Swan Lake Grocery at the plate were Perkins (single), Dinsmore (single), Hamlin (single), Rick Wyman (single), Ian Snowdeal (single), Zach Dyer (double, 2 RBIs), Tristan Roberts (3 singles, 3 RBIs) and Konnor Harford (single, double, 2 RBIs).
