Correction
Not sure what happened last week with my column, because I know I entered correct information when I wrote my column, but Jerry Ireland, not Helen Christianson, was the winner in a heated five-way write-in thumb-wrestling contest for the open Planning Board seat. Welcome, Jerry!
New town ordinances
There are several changes to ordinances concerning waterfront lot sizes and setbacks, modular and mobile home requirements, animal control rules, rental occupancy rules (which include such things as permission from the town to rent a room or a building, even to family members, with, among other provisos, a mandatory radon test, and some pretty stiff fines if you are unaware that such rules exist), and a Property Assessed Clean Energy Act which would allow townspeople to access funds for having their home energy efficiency tested by Efficiency Maine Trust. Copies of the rule changes can be obtained at the Town Office.
There is a selectmen's meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, where these rules can be discussed and questions asked of the town officers involved. This is the last meeting before the rules are voted on at a special meeting at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 23.
This is your column. If you have news you'd like printed here, please feel free to email me, keez@myfairpoint.net.
