Sweeping results: Medomak Valley too talented for Mount ViewLincoln, Waldo county high school basketball squads battle on court
On paper, it appears as if the final scores of the Medomak Valley and Mount View boys and girls basketball games, played Thursday night, Jan. 17 in Lincoln and Waldo counties, should have been reversed.
With the Panther boys and Mustang boys on opposite ends of the Eastern Class B standings' spectrum, and the Panther girls and Mustang girls in contention for the region's final playoff spot, logic would have one believe the Panther boys would prevail in convincing fashion and the Medomak Valley and Mount View girls contest would go down to the wire.
But, as they say in sports, that is why they play the games.
In the end, the Panthers swept the Mustangs, with the girls prevailing 55-31 in Waldoboro and the boys holding on for 51-43 victory in Thorndike.
