The Teen Center, an outreach program of the Penobscot Bay YMCA is proud to present its first benefit Contra Dance to be held on Friday, February 8 at the Camden Rockport Middle School at 34 Knowlton Street, Camden.

Family Dance: 6:30 – 7:45 PM with instruction, Adults $5, Child $2, Age 4 and under free, Contra Dance: 8:00-11:00 PM, Adults: $10, Students $7. Tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event.

Perpetual e-Motion will be playing the music, while Chrissy Fowler will be calling the dances. Chrissy Fowler is committed to building community, and sees traditional dancing as a vital means to connect people across age and experience. Such collaboration is invaluable for the individual and the group alike, whether they are elementary school students, professionals at a conference, graduating college seniors or guests at a wedding.

Since leading her first dance in the NH Seacoast in 1999, Chrissy has cheerfully guided people through the steps of contra dances at festivals, schools, dance series and special events throughout New England.  We are fortunate to have her calling our benefit dance, along with outrageously musical talents of Perpetual e-Motion.

The collaboration does not end with musicians and caller, but also incorporates the students and faculty of CRMS.  At this event, the CRMS Japanese Exchange program will be selling concessions. Their travels to Japan this spring relies greatly on the groups fund raising efforts.  Their sales at this evenings dance will assist in these efforts.

For over thirteen years, the Teen Center; an outreach program of the Penobscot Bay YMCA, has provided services to youth, grades five through twelve in our community. This exciting benefit concert will continue to help keep membership and programs free for all youth.
