Belfast — Residents and staff at Tall Pines in Belfast enjoyed a brief ceremony with help from the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #43.

The ceremony was held Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m. with a number of residents gathering around the flag pole beneath overcast skies. Despite the ever present threat of rain, those gathered for the ceremony remained mostly dry until the end.

Prior to presenting a new American flag and State of Maine flag, members of the Ladies Auxiliary read two poems to residents and staff.

Once the new flags were presented, the Ladies Auxiliary, along with the residents and staff, sang a number of patriotic songs.
