Tatro named Islesboro athletic directorIsland native replaces Andrew Leach, who stepped down in July
Islesboro — Islesboro Central School had quite a void to fill with the recent resignation of athletic director Andrew Leach and appear to have found its man.
Travis Tatro, who also is the school's girls basketball coach, recently was named the school's athletic director. Tatro, 29, is a 2001 graduate of ICS.
Leach, who had been the school's athletic director the past few years, stepped down from his position on July 25 after accepting a position at Bridgton Academy.
"He has taken a position as a college councilor and also [is now] the assistant lacrosse coach," said Sven Cole, director of institutional advancement at Bridgton Academy. "He is also helping out in residential life [as the assistant dorm head]."
Leach was athletic director and physical education teacher, as well as the coach for the coed soccer and boys basketball teams for Islesboro. He was athletic director for two years.
Islesboro Superintendent Joe Mattos said Jon Bolduc has been named the school's new coed soccer coach. Bolduc also is a mathematics teacher at the school this year.
Tatro replaced longtime girls basketball coach Will Aldrich last season. It is unknown if Tatro will continue in that coaching capacity while filling his new AD position.
