Belfast — The Gothic Restaurant has been named the 2013 Restaurant of the Year by Eater Maine, a food blog that covers dining and drinking across the country.

Each year, editors for the blog nominate candidates in five categories — Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Bartender of the Year, So Hot Right Now Restaurant and Stone Cold Stunner.

Voters then narrow the nominees down to three finalists before the winner is crowned. In addition to being named the Restaurant of the Year, The Gothic was also nominated in the Stone Cold Stunner category. The restaurant was one of three finalists in that category.

interesting that a startup restaurant not more than 7 months going has this distinction bestowed up itself. wonder what James Beard would offer?
