Remember, the last public supper of the season is Saturday, Oct. 15, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Knox Station Grange Hall. The menu will consist of roast turkey, baked ham and roast beef with all the fixings as long as it lasts. Adults: $8; children 12 and under, $3. Hope to see everyone there.

My sister, Terrie Griffiths, was a recent visitor and she, Dustin and I went to Unity to visit with Lisa Reynolds.

The next selectmen's meeting at the Thorndike Town Office will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6:60 p.m.

​The Thorndike Ladies Auxiliary is busy working on the annual holiday basket list. If you know of someone that is deserving of a basket, please contact an auxiliary member.

The Thorndike volunteer firemen meet Monday nights at the fire house, 7 p.m. If you are interested in joining the department, stop in on a Monday night or contact a fireman.

I have been canning carrots recently. I canned them whole this year. I will let you know if they are really better this way. Now I have to make the pickled beets and then clean out the gardens. A gardener's work is never done.

​The annual open house at the Thorndike Fire Department will be Saturday, Oct. 15, beginning at noon and going until 3 p.m. There will be a door prize, silent auction and plenty of good food. Please come and show your support for our department.

​Football coach Bum Phillips was once quoted as saying, "You fail all of the time. But you are not a failure until you start blaming someone else."
