Three Waldo County courses tee 'em up for seasonAfter tough winter, Searsport Pines, Northport, Country View ready for play
One of the surefire signs that spring has indeed sprung in Waldo County is the opening of three area golf courses.
Winter appears to be a distant memory because, as of Saturday, April 19, the Searsport Pines Golf Course, Northport Golf Club and Country View Golf Course in Brooks are open for business.
Searsport Pines and Country View opened for business Saturday, while Northport opened Friday, April 18.
Northport Golf Club had a tough winter and currently has four temporary greens open for use, while the other five greens are operational on the nine-hole course.
“We had a little problem with four greens, so that'll be a little while to get those back running again,” said Peter Mahoney of the club.
The price for Northport is $18 for nine holes and $25 for 18 holes. The course also has a discounted late rate on Sunday, Monday and Thursday after 3 p.m of nine holes for $9 or 18 holes for $18. No carts are yet allowed on the course (as of early this week).
The price for Searsport Pines is $15 for nine holes or $25 for 18 holes. Carts are not yet permitted on the course (as of early this week), but “will be let out very soon,” said owner Sue Prisco.
Searsport Pines also offers a 10-play pass through April 30, which is good for 11 rounds (one free) of golf, which equals a $40 savings off regular greens fees.
The price for Country View is $15 to walk nine holes or $23 with a cart; or $25 to walk 18 holes or $38 with a cart.
Country View sits on a relatively high piece of land on Route 7 in Brooks and drains well, which helps it get ahead of the game in the wet spring.
“The course came through the year really well,” said Sharon Picard of the club. “The greens look great [and] everything is as it should be.”
