Tour Belfast chapel, cemetery Oct. 22
Belfast — Belfast Cemetery trustees and Belfast Garden Club will host an open chapel at Grove Cemetery, 21 Belmont Ave., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, rain or shine. The historic chapel will be open for people to come in and look around, ask questions, or just sit and enjoy this piece of Belfast’s history.
Megan Smith Pinette, one of the newest cemetery trustees and president of Belfast Historical Society and Museum, will lead one of her informative cemetery tours at noon. The free tour will last about 40 minutes, and will highlight notable Belfast citizens buried in a nearby section of the cemetery.
Cemetery trustee and Garden Club member Ann Mullen will also be there to answer questions about the landscaping of the area around the chapel, including the flag garden and a nearby naturalized swale garden.
Light refreshments will be served. Please park on cemetery lanes. For more information, call Corliss Davis at 930-3562 or go to belfastgardenclub.org.
