Two injured in Lincolnville rollover
Lincolnville — A single-vehicle rollover crash in Lincolnville sent a mother and daughter to Waldo County General Hospital around 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21.
Jenny Jones, 40, of Lincolnville and her 8-year-old daughter were inside a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder traveling Heal Road when Jones failed to negotiate the corner where Heal Road intersects with Proctor Road and she lost control of the vehicle, according to police. The vehicle went off the road and into the ditch on the left-hand side of the road, rolling over and sliding sideways before striking a tree, said Waldo County Sheriffs Deputy Jordan Tozier, who responded to the scene of the crash.
Tozier said an abundance of sand on the road combined with the sharp corner likely contributed to the cause of the crash. He said the vehicle is a total loss.
Jones and her daughter were able to exit the vehicle through the rear hatch and a passerby stopped to assist them and called emergency personnel, Tozier said.
Camden First Aid Association, Lincolnville Fire Department and Waldo County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash. Both Jones and her child were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
"I believe it's going to be minor injuries," said Tozier.
