Two-vehicle accident slows traffic on Main Street

Belfast — Belfast police, fire and ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident on Main Street shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29.

A 1998 Dodge driven by Christopher Thompson, 31, of Searsport suffered rear-end damage, but was able to be driven from the scene, police said. The second vehicle, a 1997 Mercury Marquis driven by Justin Shute, 31, of Belfast suffered heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene by Eastside Garage.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Charles Street.

Police said no serious injuries were reported as a result of the accident. Police said Thompson complained of back pain but was treated at the scene and released.
