Two-vehicle collision in Winterport turns into hit-and-run

Winterport — A minor two-vehicle crash in Winterport turned into a hit-and-run after one driver refused to stop Monday, Jan. 21.

Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Darrin Moody responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident on Monroe Road in Winterport at 9:17 a.m., according to the accident report. Kara Parlin, 41, of Winterport was traveling east on Monroe Road when she attempted to make a “U” turn and failed to yield the right of way.

Parlin’s 2004 Dodge struck another vehicle, no make or model given, and suffered minor damage to the front end corner on the driver’s side, according the report. Neither Parlin nor her passenger, 9-year-old Kelsea Faulkner, of Winterport, was injured.

The vehicle Parlin struck did not stop and continued traveling east on Monroe Road.

The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, according to the accident report.
